With the entire nation of India sheltering in place and unable to work, families that live hand-to-mouth have nothing to eat, which is quickly becoming a humanitarian crisis. 365 million Indians are “multidimensionally poor” – living below poverty levels. Almost 200 million Indians are malnourished, including 40% of Indian children. With limited to no access to a daily income now, many Indians won't be able to afford food, even if it is available for purchase.
Healthcare access in India is just as dire of a situation as access to food. India ranks lower than places like Sudan on “access to healthcare.” For example, India has only one hospital bed per 2,000 people. As a result, if people get Covid-19, proper treatment will be hard to come by.
To that end, we are working to equip our ministry partners in a relief effort that will save lives – and enhance their evangelism, discipleship, and church planting efforts. Our partners are seeing this as a tremendous opportunity to demonstrate the love of Christ in their communities.
The Relief Kits include enough food to feed a family of 4 for 4 weeks. Food included will be based on the region within India, but in general, lentils, rice, oil, and milk powder will be provided. The Relief Kits will also have medicine such as fever reducers and vitamins.
To meet hygiene needs, Relief Kits include items like cloth towels, paper napkins, face masks, sanitizer, and disinfectant.
These much-needed Relief Kits cost just £32. Just think of the impact we can make together!
The network of partners we already work with will distribute the Relief Kits, enabling them to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the most practical way they can. Equipping them in this work will save lives and greatly enhance their evangelism, discipleship, and church planting efforts.
£32 will feed 4 people for 4 weeks in India and provide necessary hygiene items.
Will you help us serve "the least of these" during this pandemic?
